Drawing upon our experience, we have gathered invaluable insights along the way. We are thrilled to share with you some of the most important tips and tricks that will ensure you navigate through the World Water Week seamlessly. By arming yourself with this knowledge, you can focus on the captivating events and discussions, leaving the trivialities behind.

1) WWW App

In order not to lose track of room changes and news, you can download the World Water Week App conveniently and free of charge on your cell phone. In recent years, it has even become a requirement, as you will be asked to show your digital badge before entering the meeting room. Make sure you take your charger with you to avoid running out of battery power in the middle of the day.

2) Time Management is key

Due to the large number of participants, it can happen that things get a bit hectic. Therefore, it is helpful to make a plan at the beginning of the conference in which events you want to participate. The locations are signposted, but it doesn't hurt to get a rough overview on the first day.

4) Try to book an accommodation nearby

The WWW Conference can be a real rollercoaster. Since COVID, they've been mixing things up with online or hybrid sessions, which is great. If you have the chance, try to book accommodation close to the conference venue to save some time and effort, but also give you the luxury of sneaking back to your hotel room between sessions to recharge your batteries, attend an online session, or pick up something that you forgot in the morning. Stockholm is a very expensive city, so we recommend that you book your accommodation well in advance to save some money.

5) Functioning credit card

Speaking of money: did you know that Sweden has its own currency? It’s called the swedish krona, but don’t worry, no need to head to the currency exchange office, Sweden is all about the cashless life. Just double-check that your credit card is game on!

6) Comfortable shoes are a must have!

It is not uncommon to walk more than 10,000 steps per day, especially if you are not staying in a hotel nearby. Therefore, it is recommended to dress appropriately and bring a jacket just to be safe.

7) Networking

There is no other place where you can find so many people from the water sector as in the WWW. If you have some time during the breaks, you can use it to expand your network over a cup of coffee.  the booth area (and the SuSanA stand in particular) is usually a good place to meet other participants in a more informal way. Many networking activities are also organised on the sidelines of the conference. Keep an eye on social media (e.g. SuSanA LinkedIn and Forum) to see what's happening behind the scenes and don't forget your business card!

8) Catering

Although snacks and lunch are available on site, they may not suit your taste or appetite. Be warned that lunch is usually cold, light and vegetarian, so if you cannot do without a hot, hearty meal, it is recommended to bring your own food or eat outside. Water fountains are available, but if you are planning a session marathon, better to bring your own water bottle to keep you mobile and hydrated!

9) Explore Stockholm

This tip is for those of you who are in Stockholm for the first or second time. The city is known for its beautiful waterways, sights and unique Swedish architecture, which you can explore in the evening or on the weekend. We especially recommend taking one of the boat tours that you can book all around the city and try the famous Swedish meatballs (Köttbullar).

In conclusion, World Water Week is a great opportunity for all participants, as long as you prepare well, plan early and follow the above tips & tricks you should not expect any nasty surprises.
